Ramadan 1441 AH

i

don’t know

what weekday

it is…

the 5th of Ramadan–

i fast,

i say my prayers,

read my juz*

and wait…

will this soon

be over?

or is this

one calamity

of many

as in the

day of Pharaoh?

when people did not listen

and returned to their

business as usual

amid the blood

the locusts,

the lies,

the greed?

these things

do

not

know…

Dottie’s Visit

my mother

visited me

last night/this morning…

today

is her birthday.

she left this earth

some years ago;

but still she visits me

in

the spirit world.

and you were there…

which

is quite auspicious;

to greet her

and me

and to let us know

that

you are serious;

and that

you roam

in multiple

dimensions

as well.

Revelation

i

may never

see you

again…

but you stood there

and said

to me:

“i love you.”

is that not

the ‘hallelujah’?

is that not what

we wait for,

long for,

from another soul?

before we try

to shape

that sacred declaration

into something

that we want–

that makes sense

to us.

but just those simple words:

“i love you”

are they not

in themselves enough

to move mountains,

to diminish fear,

to stave off death,

to light the skies

and to make

the angels

sing…
