Poem for Jvoi

i cry more

for life

than

death;

but your life

was taken

far too

soon.

amid

the

turmoil of

our days,

only

the brave

and protected

walk

without

fear.

there

is no time

to find

oneself,

to explore,

mis-take

or learn

on the battle grounds

of these

city streets.

yet your voice

will live on–

a muezzin’s call;

searching

and longing

for love.

in their infancy

your days

were terminated.

in infinity

may

you

reside.

Poem

there

is

a

poem

in

me

today…

Sunday

while

i dream

and

remember

and smile

and cry…

there

is

a poem

struggling

in

my breast

flowing

to the

morning jazz

and

forgotten

traditions

floating

in

the skies

with clouds

and rain

and

seldom sun…

there

is

a

poem

lying

dormant

in my

sullen consciousness

awaiting

realization,

articulation,

presentation,

a poem

unwritten

waiting

for

it’s

time–

it’s power

to give

it

birth.
