POEM FOR RAHSAN-RAHSAN

image

he saw his imperfections
and
minimized
his genius;
he knew his
mistakes
while being driven
by the muses
of his passion.
he loved
cursed
fought demons
and saw God.
he sculpted,
built,
planted,
and painted.
together
we experienced
death–
me, solemn
and composed,
afraid…
him, open, not holding,
broke…
he lives within
the ever-lively
world
of memory, experience
and Spirit;
he thrives in his
waiting
without decay.
and for you,
Rahsan,
he wanted
the life that you
now have–
brilliant! surrounded
by love
and family
success
and faith.
for you,
he (your father)
sacrificed
a look at you face,
a touch of your
hand, the sound
of your voice-
so you could see
his better,
finer
self
In
you.
